We recently had a housewarming/my birthday party and I wanted to create a menu that everyone would enjoy including me!
BBQ Theme Menu:
- Brisket
- Chicken
- Rolls
- Potato Salad
- Coleslaw
- Fruit Salad
- Mixed Greens Salad
- Grilled Vegetables
- Gluten Free Birthday Cake
- Gluten Free Strawberry Pretzel Trifle
Let’s be real here, it’s HARD to throw or attend a party and be able to eat. My goal when I entertain is to provide drinks and food that everyone will like and I can eat too. I’ve realized if I don’t inform my guests that something is gluten free they legitimately will not notice a difference.
I had a conflict with my hubby when deciding on the menu regarding what we should have and why its important that it reflects me as well. I felt hypocritical to preach a healthy lifestyle if I myself do not represent that when we host a party. I want to prove you can have grilled veggies, fruit, salad, etc. and still be thoroughly satisfied with the addition of good quality meat. (Let me add that the grilled veggies were the first to go) I stood my ground and even got a gluten free birthday cake out of it. Hey, it’s my 30th birthday, don’t I deserve one?!

September 3, 2017 at 12:48 pmThanks for great ideas! I have a hard time at holidays and parties- I’m Low-Fodmap, my sister-in-law is vegetarian, my brother is allergic to nuts and coconut and seafood, and my husband and son are picky! This is actually the PERFECT menu for us!!!
